How to export your billing CSV / JSON from Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure in 60 seconds ▾
1. Google Cloud (BigQuery Export)

Run in BigQuery Console and click Save Results → CSV (local file) or JSONL:

SELECT
  CAST(usage_start_time AS DATE) AS usage_start_time,
  service.description AS `service.description`,
  sku.description AS `sku.description`,
  project.id AS `project.id`,
  location.region AS `location.region`,
  cost_type,
  cost,
  usage.amount AS usage_amount,
  TO_JSON_STRING(labels) AS labels,
  TO_JSON_STRING(credits) AS credits
FROM `YOUR_PROJECT.YOUR_BILLING_DATASET.gcp_billing_export_v1_*`
WHERE usage_start_time >= TIMESTAMP_SUB(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP(), INTERVAL 30 DAY)
  AND cost_type NOT IN ('tax', 'adjustment', 'rounding_error');
2. AWS Cost & Usage Report (CUR 1.0 / 2.0)

In AWS Billing and Cost Management → Data Exports (or Athena / Cost Explorer CSV export), download your standard CUR CSV containing lineItem/UsageStartDate, lineItem/ProductCode, lineItem/UsageType, lineItem/LineItemType, and lineItem/UnblendedCost.

3. Azure Cost Management

In Azure Portal → Cost Management + Billing → Cost Analysis, switch view to Cost by resource or DailyCosts and click Download → CSV (includes Date, MeterCategory, MeterName, CostInBillingCurrency, and ResourceLocation).

Turn Your FinOps Model into a Guaranteed Run-Rate Reduction

For commercial enterprises spending A$50,000/mo or more on AWS or Snowflake, we back our migration onto Google Cloud and BigQuery with a contractual 20% run-rate reduction guarantee—or Aviato pays you A$50,000 cash (AUD $50,000 cap). Already on Google Cloud? Execute every optimization lever via fixed-price Delivery Units or our 12-month Outcome Value-Share model.

    Deterministic FinOps Engine

How the 13-Lever Waterfall Eliminates Double-Counting

Most cloud calculators inflate savings by stacking independent percentage discounts on the same dollar of compute spend. Our engine classifies every SKU into a dedicated optimization pool and applies architectural rightsizing before calculating commitment discounts:

    Phase 1 · Zero-Downtime Hygiene

    Waste & Idle Elimination

Reclaims unattached Persistent Disks, unused static IPv4 addresses, Cloud Logging ingestion sprawl, non-production off-hours compute scheduling, and Cloud Storage Autoclass lifecycle tiering.

    Phase 2 · Architectural Rightsizing

    Compute, GKE & Data Tuning

Upgrades legacy N1/N2/E2 VMs to price-performant C3/C4 or Arm-based Axion (N4/C4A) shapes, consolidates GKE Standard node pools onto GKE Autopilot + Spot VMs, and shifts spiky BigQuery on-demand scan bills to Autoscaling Editions.

    Phase 3 · Commitment Portfolio

    CUD Elasticity & MAP Funding

Models 1-Year vs. 3-Year Flexible and Resource-Based Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) strictly on the post-rightsizing steady-state baseline—plus Google Cloud Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) partner credits for AWS and Azure migrations.

    FAQ

    Questions we get asked

Does my cloud billing CSV or JSON file ever leave my browser?

No. Every CSV, JSON, and JSONL billing export is parsed and analysed 100% locally in your browser using client-side TypeScript. Raw line items, resource IDs, project IDs, and account numbers are never uploaded to any server. Only when you explicitly request the emailed PDF assessment report are aggregated summary figures and top recommendation titles sent to our report generator.

Which cloud billing export formats does the calculator support?

The calculator auto-detects and ingests Google Cloud BigQuery Billing Export (Standard and Detailed Usage Cost), AWS Cost & Usage Report (CUR 1.0 and CUR 2.0, including Savings Plans and Reserved Instance effective cost columns), and Azure Cost Management Amortized/Actual CSV or JSON exports up to 25 MB. If you do not have an export handy, you can load one of the 3 built-in enterprise sample bills and scale it to your monthly spend.

How are the 13 Google Cloud optimization levers calculated without double-counting?

Each line item is classified into a primary SKU lever and evaluated in a strict sequential order. When a compute workload is rightsized or migrated to a newer machine family (such as N1/N2 to C3, C4, or Axion N4), its post-rightsizing cost pool becomes the reduced baseline for Flexible or Resource-Based Committed Use Discounts (CUDs). This sequential waterfall prevents stacked percentage discounts from inflating your projected savings.

How does the AWS or Azure to Google Cloud migration TCO model work?

In AWS or Azure mode, the engine maps your top source services (EC2, EKS, RDS, Aurora, S3, CloudFront, NatGateway, Redshift, Azure Virtual Machines, AKS, SQL Database, Blob Storage, Synapse) to their Google Cloud target architecture and models a 3-year Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) comparison. It accounts for pre-migration waste elimination, Google Cloud unit-price and scale-to-zero gains, one-off migration engineering investment, and payback period in months—and pairs with our Migration Funding Checker to estimate Google Cloud MAP partner credits.

How does the 20% Cloud Cost Reduction Guarantee apply to my results?

For commercial enterprises spending AUD $50,000 or more per month on AWS or Snowflake, Aviato backs our migration and replatforming onto Google Cloud and BigQuery with a contractual 20% run-rate reduction guarantee. If the migrated platform does not cut your normalised annualised run-rate by at least 20% measured 30 days after go-live, Aviato pays you AUD $50,000 cash.

How do I receive the board-ready PDF report and visual breakdown?

Enter your work email in the report panel inside the calculator and click Email My Board-Ready PDF Report. Our Firebase function generates a multi-page executive PDF attachment (including KPI cards, category spend bars, the ranked optimization table, 3-Year TCO comparison, and 3-phase execution roadmap) and delivers it straight to your inbox while CC’ing an Aviato Principal Architect.
