Cloud Cost & Migration FinOps Calculator

Upload a Google Cloud, AWS or Azure billing export and see where the money goes: savings per resource and SKU, rightsizing, idle resources, stop schedules, commitments and AWS/Azure-to-Google Cloud migration TCO. The full PDF report comes by email.

Analyse your own bill

Upload an AWS Cost and Usage Report, Google Cloud billing export or Azure Cost Management export (CSV or JSON, up to 25 MB). In under a minute you see where the money goes, which resources to rightsize, stop on a schedule or commit, and what a leaner target could cost.

How we handle your data
  • Your billing data is used only to produce your cost assessment. It is not sold, shared with third parties or used for any other purpose.
  • Your results can only be opened with the private link created for you. They are not listed, published or visible to other users.
  • Access within Aviato Consulting is limited to authorised staff, and only to support the service or to respond to your enquiry.
  • Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud in Australia and encrypted at rest and in transit. Emails are delivered through our email provider, SendGrid.
  • Your data is deleted automatically after 30 days. You can ask for earlier deletion at any time by emailing cloudsales@aviato.consulting.
  • If you provide your email address, Aviato Consulting may contact you about your assessment. You can opt out at any time.

How to export your billing data

Each card shows what to export and which columns are read. Download a template to see the exact format, or try the sample to see a full assessment first.

Google Cloud

Optimisation: idle resources, rightsizing, schedules, commitments, storage, BigQuery and network

  1. Turn on Cloud Billing export to BigQuery (detailed usage cost) if it is not on already.
  2. In BigQuery, run the query below for the last 30 days and save the results as CSV.
  3. Upload the CSV here.

Columns read

usage_start_time, service.description, sku.description, project.id, location.region, resource.name, cost, credits

Also read if present: cost_type, usage_amount, labels

BigQuery query for the last 30 days

AWS

Migration to Google Cloud: target services, egress, TCO and payback

  1. In the AWS Billing console, open Data Exports and create a CUR 2.0 (or legacy Cost and Usage Report) export to S3, with resource IDs included.
  2. Download one full month's CSV from the S3 bucket and unzip it.
  3. Upload the CSV here.

Columns read

lineItem/UsageStartDate, lineItem/ProductCode, lineItem/UsageType, lineItem/ResourceId, lineItem/UnblendedCost, product/region, lineItem/UsageAccountId

Also read if present: lineItem/LineItemType, savingsPlan/SavingsPlanEffectiveCost, reservation/EffectiveCost

Azure

Migration to Google Cloud: target services, egress, TCO and payback

  1. In the Azure portal, open Cost Management > Exports and create an export of actual costs as CSV.
  2. Run it for one full month and download the CSV from the storage account.
  3. Upload the CSV here.

Columns read

Date, MeterCategory, MeterName, ResourceId, ResourceLocation, CostInBillingCurrency, Quantity, SubscriptionName

Contractual 20% Cost Reduction Guarantee

Turn Your FinOps Model into a Guaranteed Run-Rate Reduction

For commercial enterprises spending A$50,000/mo or more on AWS or Snowflake, we back our migration onto Google Cloud and BigQuery with a contractual 20% run-rate reduction guarantee—or Aviato pays you A$50,000 cash (AUD $50,000 cap). Already on Google Cloud? Execute every optimization lever via fixed-price Delivery Units or our 12-month Outcome Value-Share model.

How the Lever Waterfall Eliminates Double-Counting

Most cloud calculators inflate savings by stacking independent percentage discounts on the same dollar of compute spend. Our engine classifies every SKU into a dedicated optimization pool and applies architectural rightsizing before calculating commitment discounts:

Phase 1 · Zero-Downtime Hygiene

Waste & Idle Elimination

Reclaims unattached Persistent Disks, unused static IPv4 addresses, Cloud Logging ingestion sprawl, non-production off-hours compute scheduling, and Cloud Storage Autoclass lifecycle tiering.

Phase 2 · Architectural Rightsizing

Compute, GKE & Data Tuning

Upgrades legacy N1/N2/E2 VMs to price-performant C3/C4 or Arm-based Axion (N4/C4A) shapes, consolidates GKE Standard node pools onto GKE Autopilot + Spot VMs, and shifts spiky BigQuery on-demand scan bills to Autoscaling Editions.

Phase 3 · Commitment Portfolio

CUD Elasticity & MAP Funding

Models 1-Year vs. 3-Year Flexible and Resource-Based Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) strictly on the post-rightsizing steady-state baseline—plus Google Cloud Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) partner credits for AWS and Azure migrations.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

What happens to my billing file when I upload it?

Your file is analysed by ZeroSpend, Aviato's cost assessment engine, running on Google Cloud in Australia. It is used only to produce your assessment, kept encrypted for 30 days so your results link keeps working, and then deleted automatically. Your results open only with the private link created for you. Only authorised Aviato staff can access it, to support the service or respond to your enquiry, and you can ask for earlier deletion at any time by emailing cloudsales@aviato.consulting.

Which cloud billing export formats does the calculator support?

Google Cloud billing exports (a CSV saved from the BigQuery billing export, ideally the detailed export with resource names), AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR 2.0 or legacy, including Savings Plans and Reserved Instance effective cost columns) and Azure Cost Management exports, as CSV or JSON up to 25 MB. Each cloud has a template file showing the exact columns, and a sample you can try first.

How are the Google Cloud savings calculated without double-counting?

Each line of the bill is classified into one savings lever, and levers are applied in a fixed order: idle resources and measured rightsizing, machine family upgrades, stop schedules and batch work, Spot, then commitments. Each lever works on the spend left after the ones before it, so commitments are sized on the rightsized, scheduled baseline and percentages never stack on the same dollar. Savings are then shared out per resource and SKU, so the figures add up to the total.

How does the AWS or Azure to Google Cloud migration TCO model work?

For AWS and Azure bills, each service is mapped to its Google Cloud target (for example EC2 to Compute Engine or Cloud Run, RDS to Cloud SQL or AlloyDB, S3 and Blob Storage to Cloud Storage). The model removes waste before the move, applies Google Cloud pricing, adds a one-off migration cost and compares three years of total cost of ownership, including the payback period.

How does the 20% Cloud Cost Reduction Guarantee apply to my results?

For commercial enterprises spending AUD $50,000 or more per month on AWS or Snowflake, Aviato backs our migration and replatforming onto Google Cloud and BigQuery with a contractual 20% run-rate reduction guarantee. If the migrated platform does not cut your normalised annualised run-rate by at least 20% measured 30 days after go-live, Aviato pays you AUD $50,000 cash.
